Washington Street Vendor News

Updated: Jan 25

On January 3, 2024 NYC no longer allowed vendors on the Brooklyn Bridge. Many moved to Washington Street causing extreme overcrowding of the sidewalk. Residents voiced their concerns to DAC and Councilman Restler. The Councilman, DSNY, NYC Parks, DAC and the BID joined together to discuss proper enforcement. NYC Parks controls enforcement on that stretch of Washington Street. They reacted quickly and have resolved issues of over crowding and unlicensed vendors. DUMBO Action Committee is quoted in news stories linked below. DAC will continue work with all officials and agencies to manage this situation.
