DUMBO Film Shoots: Traffic Tourists, Revenue

FILM SHOOTS

Getting Solutions for DUMBO

FILM MORATORIUM

DUMBO saw an enormous number of film shoots.  The trucks and road closures impacted traffic and quality of life.  Because of DAC's efforts in the fall of 2018, the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME) agreed to institute a temporary moratorium for film shoots in DUMBO.

We are pleased to announce that DAC received a commitment from MOME to extend the moratorium during the Department of Design and Construction's (DDC) five-year reconstruction of our local streets.

DAC thanks the following individuals for their support on this issue:

Councilman Steven Levin;
Glomani Bravo-Lopez (Councilman Levin's Deputy Chief of Staff);

Alexandria Sica (Executive Director of the DUMBO BID);

Blenda Coracao (Department of Design and Construction); and

Mina Marcos (Department of Design and Construction).

Special thanks to Dean McCann of MOME for listening to our concerns and instituting the moratorium.

DAC'S RECOMMENDATION FOR PRODUCTION STUDIO DONATIONS

It is customary for production companies to donate to community organizations when filming in a neighborhood's streets.

DAC recommends that tax-deductible donations be made to the PTAs of our location schools:

P.S. 307
The Dock Street School.

Information on how to donate is here.
